Dr. Emily Hager

Regional Director, Middle Tennessee

Dr. Emily Hager is a dedicated public servant, veteran, educator, and community advocate with a deep commitment to public health, wellness, and the faith community. Her multifaceted career reflects a unique blend of academic accomplishments, military service, a history of community service and advocacy through faith-based community involvement.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Dr. Hager has exemplified leadership, resilience, and a strong sense of duty. Following her service, she pursued her academic aspirations and earned a doctorate in Nutritional Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where her research focused on cellular impact of an obese microenvironment on cancerous breast epithelial cells.

Throughout her tenure as a doctoral student, Dr. Hager overcame several challenges including the loss of her previous husband to suicide. In her process of healing, she became immersed in the mental health community working with veteran non-profit organizations and congregations to support citizens struggling with suicidal ideation.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Hager is deeply involved in faith-based initiatives aimed at supporting and uplifting individuals and families in need. Her passion for community outreach through faith-based organizations has led to the development of innovative programs that promote holistic well-being through community collaboration, including the development of Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors Teams, educational seminars, etc. to combat various crisis.
