Sheleah Harris

Director, Volunteer Mentorship Initiative

Sheleah Harris is a servant leader in the community and native of Memphis, Tennessee. Having a heart for people has led Sheleah to serving our most vulnerable populations in the community including, unhoused youth and young adults, and justice-impacted individuals through policy, programs and volunteerism.

She previously served as the Corporate Affairs Director for Kroger, where she managed Government Affairs, Media Relations and Community Engagement by collaborating with community stakeholders and local legislatures to end hunger and food waste.

In addition, she was a registered lobbyist with Verizon, working to expand internet accessibility and telecommunications; she served with the Tennessee Charter School Center to advocate for school choice and prevent legislative adverse impact for school operators throughout Tennessee; and built sustainable infrastructures with community organizations through two-generational models supporting underserved families.

As a former secondary educator, with a unique lens on implementing policies and programs that directly impacted students and educators in Memphis, TN, she became the first woman and African American to represent Memphis-Shelby County Schools District 5 as a School Board Commissioner in August of 2020.

Sheleah earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Freed-Hardeman University and Bachelor’s in Marketing Management from The University of Memphis. She is an active member at the Life Church of Nashville and her most valuable tool to success is remaining focused and aligned to God’s purpose with COURAGE.
