About the Role

The Tennessee Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative (GFBCI) is seeking a Content Specialist to help tell powerful, human-centered stories across social and digital platforms. This role supports three priority initiatives—Every Child TN (foster care and family support), the Volunteer Mentorship Initiative (re-entry and second-chance pathways), and the Human Flourishing Initiative (community-based social service support).

The Content Specialist will be responsible for creating and publishing compelling social content—graphics, short-form video, and copy—across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, ensuring all content aligns with the mission, tone, and values of GFBCI.

This role is ideal for a creative who can execute independently, work within existing brand guidelines, and translate real-world impact into clear, engaging digital storytelling.


Key Responsibilities

Social Content Design & Publishing
  • Develop and manage a weekly social posting (approximately 5 posts per week) for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Identify, curate, and repurpose existing content from GFBCI initiatives, partners, and events.

  • Design high-quality static and motion graphics using approved brand templates and visual guidelines.

  • Publish content and ensure consistency in voice, tone, and visual identity across platforms.

Social Video Capture & Editing
  • Edit short-form video and photos from events and initiative-related gatherings.

  • Edit social-first video content optimized for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Create graphics and captions to support video storytelling.

  • Organize, label, and manage digital assets (video, photos, copy) within Dropbox.

Monthly Email Content & Design
  • Identify and develop 10 stories per month highlighting GFBCI initiatives, partners, and community impact.

  • Create polished email content including copy, photos, video links, and graphics.

  • Build and publish the monthly email using HubSpot.

  • Track performance metrics and provide basic analytics reporting to the Senior Advisor.

Website Updates & Design
  • Build and update landing pages within HubSpot, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and aligned with GFBCI brand guidelines and initiative goals.

  • Polish and maintain existing websites by refreshing copy, visuals, and layout to improve clarity, usability, and storytelling.

  • Assist in the development of new websites or web sections, collaborating with the Senior Advisor to translate program goals into effective digital experiences.

  • Ensure all web updates are mobile-friendly, visually consistent, and optimized for basic performance and engagement metrics.

  • Support light website content management, including uploading assets, updating calls to action, and coordinating content launches with social and email efforts.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet weekly deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience creating compelling social content (graphics and video).

  • Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, and native social platform tools.

  • Comfortable editing high-quality photos and video

  • Experience managing and posting content across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow brand guidelines while bringing creative judgment to execution.

  • Familiarity with HubSpot (email and website tools).

Preferred

  • Prefer an individual contractor, not an agency.

  • Tennessee residency.

  • Experience working with mission-driven, nonprofit, government, or community-based organizations.

  • Experience with email design and simple website updates in HubSpot.

Compensation

  • $2500 / month
