Raul López was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1962. At the age of 5, he and his family escaped Communism and found a new life in the United States of America. He has 6 children (2 adopted from Colombia) and a lovely wife. He attended 2 years of community college and 2 years of Bible College. In 2015, he was appointed Executive Director through 2025. During his leadership, the Ministry expanded from serving just one prison in Nashville, TN, to serving a dozen jails and every male prison in TN, as well as opening two 24/7 Re-entry facilities serving over 120 men. Raul was appointed by Governor Lee to several committees that worked on Criminal Justice and Education policies.

Raul is also very active in the Latino community, serving on the boards of two Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, his local church, and various community causes. He also helped found and host 2 Hispanic TV programs: Que Pasa Nashville and Spanish TV, both dedicated to the opportunities and challenges facing the Hispanic community in Middle Tennessee.
