These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Governorsinitiative.org (the "Site"), which is operated by the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative ("GFBCI," "we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using this Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About GFBCI and the Site

The Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 2019 by the Tennessee General Assembly, that mobilizes Tennessee's community-based and faith-based organizations to unite with state government in serving vulnerable Tennesseans. GFBCI's work is carried out through its initiatives — including Every Child TN, the Volunteer Mentorship Initiative, and the Human Flourishing Initiative — as well as special projects, each conducted in partnership with state agencies, implementation partners, and community organizations.

The Site is operated by GFBCI and is not a website of the State of Tennessee. The Site is an informational resource: it allows visitors to learn about GFBCI and its initiatives, express interest in getting involved, subscribe to communications, access reports and stories, and contact us. It is not the platform through which individuals or families receive services. Services connected to GFBCI's initiatives are provided through state agencies, implementation partners, backbone organizations, and their community networks, and any information provided in those contexts is handled separately from the Site (see Section 4 and our Privacy Policy).

Each GFBCI initiative also maintains its own website (such as everychildtn.org, flourishtn.org, mentortn.org, and feedtn.org). Those sites are governed by their own terms and policies.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using this Site, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or that you are using the Site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Your continued use of the Site constitutes your ongoing acceptance of these Terms as they may be updated from time to time.

3. Use of the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with its intended use. You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Site in any way that violates any applicable federal, state, or local law or regulation.
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including impersonating any person or organization.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or any connected systems or networks.

  • Transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code, or engage in any activity that could damage, disable, or impair the Site.
  • Use the Site to transmit unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or otherwise objectionable content.

4. Submissions and Communications

When you submit information through the Site — such as your name, email address, organization, story submission, partnership proposal, or indicated interest in volunteering, mentoring, fostering, or partnering — you represent that the information is accurate and that you have the right to provide it. Information you submit through the Site is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Depending on your indicated interest, we may share your contact information with the relevant initiative, implementation partner, or state agency contact so they can follow up with you.

Expressing interest through the Site does not guarantee participation in any GFBCI initiative, volunteer placement, mentorship match, partnership, funding, services, or any particular outcome. The Site is not an intake, enrollment, application, or licensing system. Participation in initiative programs may be subject to additional eligibility requirements, application, screening, background checks, training, and approval administered by the relevant state agency, implementation partner, or backbone organization.

If you submit a story, testimonial, or similar content through the Site, you represent that you have the right to share it (including any necessary permissions from people identified in it) and you grant GFBCI a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and share that content in connection with our mission, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information — such as health, financial, or other confidential details about yourself or others — through general contact forms on the Site.

5. Informational Purposes Only; No Professional Advice

Content on the Site is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Statistics, program results, and report content are provided for general context and may be updated as our work progresses. If you or someone you know is in crisis or needs immediate assistance, contact a qualified provider or emergency services.

6. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content — including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, reports, and other materials — are the property of the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative or its respective licensors, and are protected by applicable laws.

You may view, download, and print content from the Site — including our published annual reports — for personal, non-commercial, or informational purposes, provided you do not remove any proprietary notices. You may not otherwise reproduce, modify, distribute, or use the content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. Names, logos, and marks displayed on the Site — including those of GFBCI, its initiatives, state agencies, and partner organizations — may not be used without authorization.

7. Third-Party Links and Partners

The Site may contain links to websites operated by third parties, including initiative websites, state agencies, implementation partners, backbone organizations, and other community organizations. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components, or that any information on the Site is complete, accurate, or current. Information on the Site is provided for general informational purposes and may be changed or updated without notice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of (or inability to use) the Site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Your sole and exclusive remedy for dissatisfaction with the Site is to stop using it.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and your use of the Site are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Davidson County, Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update or modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Changes are effective when posted to the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Severability
